In many areas the worldwide use of polymers is necessary for the solid/liquid separation. Polymer solutions are e.g. used in the purification of waste water in sewage treatment plants. The sedimentation or flotation of the suspended solids is accelerated by the polymer. Thereby the dewatering behaviour of thickened sludge in the downstream units is improved.
